Consultation on Green Improvement Plan

As regular readers of CR6 will be aware, the Parish Council has been working for some time on plans to improve Warlingham Green as mandated by the Parish Plan, which stated that The Green needed a “complete makeover”.

The Green Improvement Working Group, made up of councillors, shopkeepers and representatives of groups who organise events on The Green, has now approved a scheme to go to public consultation which meets its original brief and reflects the comments of Surrey County Council, the highway authority, and the findings of the Traffic Assessment undertaken by a highways consultant.

The scheme incorporates new crossings, attractive new surfacing for roads, pavements and on The Green itself, increased parking, improved drainage and new seating. All trees have been retained.

The plans will be on display in Warlingham Library on Sunday 18th March from 2 till 4 p.m., and on Monday 26th March from 10 till 12 a.m., together with photographs and samples illustrating the surfaces, street furniture and lighting which might be installed. Please come along and provide your comments – a simple form will be provided to do this.

If you can’t get along the main plan will also be available for viewing on the Council’s website from Sunday 18th March onwards, from where you will be able to download or print off the comment form and either email it to us or drop it in to the Library by 31 March.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Wednesday 4 April at 7.30 in Warlingham Library.
