The Parish Council has just completed a consultation with retailers and other businesses located on or close to The Green, aimed at finding out their views on current business conditions, key issues and how they would like to see the Green develop. The intention was to provide the Council with information which it can take account of both in progressing the Green Improvement Project and in influencing the activities that take place on and around The Green.

The consultation was organised by a working group of parish councillors and local residents with relevant expertise, chaired by Parish Councillor Robin Bloore, and took the form of a questionnaire delivered to all business around The Green. 32 out of 45 businesses responded by completing the questionnaire, a very good response rate, and a report has been produced by the working group summarising the answers and making recommendations to the Parish Council , which it considered at its September meeting.

Key findings include support for more events on the Green, for a mix of businesses there which support residents’ combined shopping and business needs, and for the setting up of a Traders Group supported by the Parish Council.

The report provides the Parish Council with extremely useful information, and the working group has been asked to assist those traders who have indicated their interest to set up a Traders Group.
