As part of its cost cutting measures in the face of ongoing government cuts to local government funding Surrey County Council has reduced its funding for grass cutting of our highway verges from seven to four cuts a year.

As this was agreed to be unacceptable in terms of its impact on the appearance of our streets Tandridge Council agreed to fund three cuts in 2018/19, but has decided it cannot afford to continue this into 2019/20, and invited parishes to consider paying for extra cuts if they wish.

Warlingham Parish Council had already budgeted to sustain the grass cutting service in the parish for 2019/20, and following discussions with Surrey to confirm the costs has now agreed to pay for two cuts so that there will be six cuts in all between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020. This should ensure the grass is kept down to an acceptable height.
